I grew up on an everything farm in Iowa, the type that is disappearing nowadays. In addition to the cattle, hogs, sheep, and chickens, alfalfa, corn, and soybeans, we had a horse for everyone in the family and often rode to town on Sunday afternoons. After college, I taught in Santa Fe before marrying and settling in Greeley, finally retiring from Aims Community College and moving to Denver. I travelled the world extensively when young and never stopped taking classes throughout my career. I'm proud to have been honored as a humanities scholar by the Kettering Foundation and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
